CanSkate Sessions

Southern Alberta Skating Academy will be taking every precaution to keep our skaters, coaches and volunteers safe during our Fall 2021 programs.

Due to COVID-19, for the 2021 season we will be offering both a Parent & Tot and non-Parent & Tot option for our CanSkate sessions. The Parent & Tot session is designed for skaters new to the ice that require assistance. The “Parent” does not have to be a parent but rather an individual in the skater’s family that can offer hands on assistance to the skater. Our non-Parent & Tot or regular CanSkate session is open to skaters that can get up by themselves and move unassisted on the ice. We ask that you honestly evaluate the level of your skaters prior to registering and choose the appropriate level for your child.

Our CanSkate sessions are open to all beginner skaters wishing to improve their basic skills whether their focus is figure skating, hockey, ringette, speed skating or just skating for fun. Levels include those stepping on the ice for the first time all the way up to Stage 6. Our sessions are full of action, movement and fun – you’ll see our coaches using teaching aids, upbeat music and a wide variety of activities to create a motivational environment that promotes learning. To get started all you need are skates, a CSA-approved hockey helmet, long pants, mittens and a warm sweater/jacket!
